And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
We are disciples who make disciples who make disciples. As we follow the Great Commission, we baptize and teach others to observe all that Jesus has commanded. Here is what we believe about baptism:
Believers are baptized to observe the command of Jesus Christ
Baptism is a step of obedience to the Great Commission. For almost 2,000 years the church has followed this command that Jesus instituted at his ascension. When we are baptized, we are walking in obedience to the commands of our King
Believers are baptized to declare publicly the inward heart change done by the Holy Spirit
The moment we become believers, the saving work of Christ rescues, reconciles, and renews us. This work does not require baptism and baptism does not make the work any more valid. Baptism is a public declaration of what was done the moment we believed.
Believers are baptized after becoming believers
Baptism comes as a step of obedience after someone becomes a follower of Jesus. If you were baptized before becoming a follower of Jesus Christ, we would encourage you to get baptized again.
